Welcome to Doggie Dekor: Handmade for Dogs and the Humans Who Love Them

If you're visiting us for the first time or a returning visitor - welcome, I am so happy you are here.

My name is Sheryl, the maker, fabric collector, seamstress, photographer, packer, accountant and regular treat dispenser behind Doggie Dekor.  As a one woman small business owner I do it all and it is my passion.

Like many great ideas, Doggie Dekor started because of dogs, my dogs,

(Buddy and Luvee (Luv for short).  I am a dog fan!!

Buddy is my black-and-white Border Collie. He has endless energy, a huge personality, and believes every day should include an adventure — otherwise he'll create one of his own. Luvee is my sweet Rough Collie. She's calm, thoughtful, gentle, loves her long naps and is the voice of reason when Buddy is busy creating a little chaos. Make no mistake she can handle him.  Together, they inspire so much of what I create.

From my tiny studio in Calgary, Alberta, I design, create and sew handcrafted accessories and dog-themed items for dogs and the people who adore them.

But Doggie Dekor isn't just about creating pretty things.

It's also about making thoughtful choices whenever possible.

Why Fabric Matters

I absolutely love fabric - so far my stash is totally under control and I use as much as I take in - most of the time.

While I do purchase new fabrics for many of my creations, I also believe beautiful fabric deserves every opportunity to be used and enjoyed.  That's why you'll often find me incorporating gifted, reclaimed, salvaged, and rescued fabrics into my work.

Many of these fabrics are too beautiful to end up forgotten in a cupboard or worse, headed for a landfill. By turning them into handmade products like wristlet keychains, bookmarks, poo bag holders, dog accessories, and future one-of-a-kind creations, they get a second chance to be loved.

Every rescued fabric tells a story and every finished piece becomes something useful again.

Handmade in Small Batches

Every Doggie Dekor product is handmade in small batches right here in Calgary, Alberta.

I carefully select fabrics, prepare materials, sew each item and package every order myself.

Because many of the fabrics I use are limited in quantity, some products may only be available once. When they're gone - they are gone for good.

That's part of what makes handmade products so special.

No giant warehouses.

No mass production.

Just thoughtfully created items made with care by just 1 person, me.

Looking Ahead

Doggie Dekor is still growing and I have so many ideas for the future.

There will be new fabrics, new products, seasonal collections and some exciting custom projects that I can't wait to share.

For now, I'm simply grateful you're here.

Whether you're shopping for your own dog, looking for a gift for a dog lover, or just stopping by to say hello, thank you for supporting a woman-owned Canadian handmade business.

Buddy, Luvee, and I are happy you found us.

And don't forget...

Tell your dog we said hi. 🐾
